Dr. Ejjibabu Geddam attends 70th Annual Convention of EFI

Dr. Ejjibabu Geddam, Honorary Director of Transbiblica, participated in the 70th Annual Convention of the Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFI) held in Jagadalpur, Bastar from September 17-19, 2024. The convention, themed “Hope in Hardship” (Romans 5:3-4), brought together over 200 participants from across India to express solidarity with the Church in the Bastar region, which has faced increasing persecution in recent years.

Rev. Vijayesh Lal, General Secretary of EFI, delivered a powerful keynote address on the opening day, setting the tone for the convention. Dr. Ejjibabu reflected on his experience, stating, “Participating in EFI’s 70th convention was a great experience and an exposure for me, representing Transbiblica. I was able to talk and listen to real-time witnesses who have faced many persecutions from the Bastar district and North India.”

During the convention, Dr. Ejjibabu engaged in several bilateral discussions with Christian leaders. Key discussions included:

Rev. Vijayesh Lal, General Secretary of EFI, who appreciated Transbiblica’s presence and discussed future partnerships.
Evangelical Baptist Church representatives from 1,200 churches, expressing interest in partnering with Transbiblica on peace initiatives.
Mr. Paul P. Joseph from Mission India, willing to collaborate on Creation Care consultations.
Bishop Biswajit Pani from Bhubaneswar, representing 500 churches, interested in conducting Creation Care workshops with Transbiblica.
Dr. John Dayal, a journalist from Delhi, seeking to learn more about Transbiblica for potential future partnerships.

This significant gathering underscored the resilience and hope of the Christian community in the face of adversity, and highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration among Christian organizations in India.

The convention concluded with the reading of the Declaration of the 70th Annual Convention of the Evangelical Fellowship of India, which was unanimously approved by the participants. The declaration reaffirmed EFI’s commitment to the spiritual and social welfare of the nation, recognizing the longstanding contributions of Christianity to India and calling for unity, peace, and justice amid rising persecution and opposition.
